  • With 48 Asian countries and a diaspora of immigrants around the world, the Asian experience is one of breadth and diversity. To mark Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, the Exchange spotlights a small group of Asian and Asian-American artists making vital music that connects to Asian identity in vastly different ways. Guests Howie Lee, Yu Su, Bézier and Angela Lin joined RA's North American editor Matthew McDermott to discuss their journeys as Asian and Asian-American musicians and label heads. The conversation wanders from Taoism to the need for Asian Pacific Americans to demonstrate solidarity with Black individuals in a united struggle against racism, especially following a wave of anti-Asian violence and the rise of the Stop Asian Hate campaign. Primarily, we learn about the divergent stories and motivations behind the work of some incredible Asian and Asian-American artists.
