- Founder Sam Valenti IV catches us up on the distinctive American record label.
- Though music is its chief export, Ghostly International has always been more than just a record label. Formed in 1999 in a University Of Michigan dorm, it began as a platform for the Midwest's vibrant but occasionally overlooked music scene. As its musical remit grew to incorporate more geographically and stylistically diverse acts, it also became a hub for visual art and design, and it's forged collaborations with everyone from LA's beat scene to Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. With projects like Drip.fm, Ghostly has further challenged what it means to be a label in the internet age. Through it all, founder Sam Valenti IV has been steering the boat through each twist and turn. Jordan Rothlein caught up with him at his home in Brooklyn recently to discuss the state of the label as it marks its 15th year.
