  • The Hour is RA's monthly blend of documentaries, interviews and discussion. This month's episode kicks off with the founders of Pink Noise Zine, a DIY publication seeking to welcome women into the world of dance music. If you've ever felt curious about navigating a pair of CDJs, wondered where your nearest Ableton workshop is or wanted to know the logistics of putting on a club night, this zine has you covered [00.44]. In recent years, listening bar culture has spread from Tokyo's backstreets to cities around the world, with Spiritland and Brilliant Corners in London, Hosoi in Stockholm and La Milagrosa in New York, to name a few. The latest city to embrace listening bars is Los Angeles, where two spots, In Sheep's Clothing and Gold Line, recently opened in quick succession. RA staff writer Matt McDermott stopped by both venues to learn more about the proliferating concept [12.28]. Finally, we return to Unsound Festival in Krakow for highlights from a panel about East African music and its wider context, moderated by RA editor-in-chief Aaron Coultate with panellists Arlen Dilsizian and Kampire Bahana, two key instigators in the Nyege Nyege crew [33.21].
