  • Listening to the handful of EPs Keisha Matthews has released since 2018 makes her vertiginous rise no surprise. She's clearly a gifted producer, fusing dance styles from various eras with elements of indie and pop production into a sound that's more diverse and primed for bigger audiences than purely club-oriented music. By 2019 she'd caught the attention of Bonobo, landing a track on his fabric presents mix, and was snapped up by Ninja Tune, which released subsequent EPs Flowers and OnlyL. The fact that she jumped from mostly DJing at weddings to debuting at fabric sums up her rapid but well-earned change of fortune. In conversation with friend and fellow DJ Heléna Star, Matthews talks through this life-changing transition. From the thinking behind her Apple Music radio show, to album plans, and thoughts on navigating the music industry as an introvert, Matthews shares the energy of an emergent talent that's just warming up.
