  • Talking the tenth anniversary of "Another Girl" and NFT music releases.

  • This month ten years ago marked the release of Jacques Greene's "Another Girl." It was an auspicious record both for the label LuckyMe and the Canadian producer, and crowned his streak of early 12-inches for era-defining labels like Night Slugs, UNO and 3024. By the end of the decade he'd launched his own imprint Vase, heavily toured as a live performer and DJ, and released two albums, Feel Infinite and Dawn Chorus, with LuckyMe. But the release of his latest single "Promise" has gained him attention of a new kind: sold as a non-refundable token, it's one of the first prominent examples of a DJ/producer from an independent, underground background releasing work on the tech-dominated cryptocurrency market. In conversation, we hear the factors that led to his NFT release along with his general thoughts and concerns about the medium, plus reflections on his first job—packing records for Ninja Tune—and how the latest album from Actress helped him find purpose during the pandemic.
