  • A conversation with a pillar of UK funky.
  • Share
  • Since his debut EP in 2008, Roska has stayed with the UK funky sound through thick and thin, first creating one of its best bangers ("Squark") before taking the music global to Japan, Australia and beyond, all the while bringing through the next generation of talent via his vital label, Roska, Kicks & Snares. Without his dedication, UK funky may have died. All that said, the Londoner born Wayne Goodlitt has never been about just one sound. Dancehall, soca, grime, jungle, house and his beloved UK garage have all fed into his unique artistry. Even pop has crept in recently, like on the excellent "Giving It Up" with the singer Ruby Wood, one of more than 20 tracks Roska has put out in 2020. All these years later, he remains as hungry and hard working as ever, as we found out in this live RA Exchange.
