- DJ S played a key role in the rise of UK garage during its heyday in the late '90s and early '00s. But both before and after, he's been deeply involved in the London party scene, boasting a knowledge and perspective that's allowed him to build a successful life as a DJ and promoter up to the present day. As part of Pure Silk, S had a front row seat DJing and organising some of the biggest events of the garage era. He also developed garage's takeover of the Cypriot resort town Ayia Napa and mixed a series of iconic mix-CDs that defined the style, such as Pure Silk Garage and Pure Silk In Ayia Napa, notable also for their inclusion of MCs like Ranking and CKP.
Since the garage era, S has founded House Of Silk, one of the UK's biggest event series. In conversation with Marcus Barnes, we hear S's perspective on the rise and fall of UK garage and how he's navigated the London events landscape over the decades.
