  • In April of this year, Terry Francis, Nathan Coles and Eddie Richards went to Brighton on the UK's south coast to celebrate the 23rd anniversary of their party Wiggle. It's worth considering that for a moment—23 years. They don't do the party often these days, but in its heyday in the late '90s and early '00s, Wiggle was known as a key proponent of tech house, a genre that started life as a London-rooted hybrid sound and went on to become a catchall term for the music played at big clubs in Ibiza and elsewhere. You get a sense of Francis's length of service when you consider that the music they were pushing at Wiggle has recently been picked up by a new generation of artists, the wheel of dance music trends doing a complete rotation. For roughly 18 of the 23 years Wiggle has been active, Francis has also been a resident at fabric, London's most famous nightclub. Fabric has adopted all sorts of sounds over the years, but Francis and his fellow resident Craig Richards have been at the core of the club's music policy, the pair navigating through the rough seas of changing tastes and audiences. Francis is less well-known for his work as a producer, but he's made plenty of standout records, some of which were collected this year on Together, his debut album. This collection of old and unreleased material showed why Francis's style will likely never lose its relevancy.
