  • In 2016, after 15 years living in Berlin, Oskar Offermann moved to Offenbach. This small city, located just outside of Frankfurt, is best known in electronic music circles for Robert Johnson, a 250-capacity club with a killer soundsystem and a slick booking policy. Lesser known but no less exciting is the crew of DJs and producers connected with the venue, which includes groups and labels such as HardWorkSoftDrink and Traffic Records. "Hanging out with them for intense hours changed my whole perspective on music," Offermann told RA in 2016. "This happened around a time where I was very bored with house music." Offermann made another big change in 2016 by shutting down White, the label he'd run since 2005. With it, him and friends like Edward had perfected a lush form of deep house with an unusually broad appeal. As Matt Unicomb heard in RA's Berlin office on a Saturday afternoon a few months ago, Offermann's decision to close White was partly due to his new friends in Offenbach, who have inspired his new phase of development as a producer and DJ.
