  • "Legendary" may be the most overused word in the music journalist's phrase book. But for David Rodigan it's entirely appropriate. He's lived reggae music and has some truly amazing stories to show for it. His obsession started when as a young mod he first heard ska music's infectious beat. He turned professional in the late '70s with a job hosting the UK's first legal reggae radio show. Since then he's interviewed artists as revered as Bob Marley, emerged victorious at some of the world's biggest sound clashes, and received an MBE for services to broadcasting, a distinction he dedicates to reggae music itself. Rodigan has always been huge with reggae fans, but he recently found an entirely new audience through his vocal cameos on dubstep records and his sound clash performances on YouTube. Ahead of the release of his Masterpiece compilation, Rodigan sat down with Stephen Titmus to discuss his long and eventful career.
