  • With gigs the world over and a long-running residency at the world's most famous nightclub, Cassy Britton obviously takes being a DJ seriously. It's rare, though, to meet one who imbues it with such importance. A onetime acting student at a top London conservatory, Cassy thinks about playing records the way a method actor approaches a role, letting herself speak through music rather than let it speak for her. It's a philosophy that's allowed her to continue digging deep into her bag even as she's taken it onto ever-larger stages since her definitive Panorama Bar 01 mix in 2006. Having lived across Europe—but mostly on airplanes—these last few years, Cassy doesn't stay in one place very long. RA's Jordan Rothlein caught her during some rare downtime in Berlin for a conversation about what drives her DJ sets. She also gave us a little more insight into the project for Planet E she and Kirk Degiorgio are reportedly cooking up.
