For Defunct’s first anniversary we’ve decided to go big and fly in the head honcho of legendary record label Yoyaku, Varhat, for an extended set at Werkhaus.
Following a string of acclaimed releases, Varhat has quickly established himself as a leading name in the French scene. When he’s not out on tour, Varhat plays a central role in record store, booking agency and distribution hub Yoyaku. Through their praised instore sessions at their shop in east Paris, representation of industry giants like Audio Werner, Cabanne, Janeret, and Thomas Melchior, and labels Hostom, YYY-series and YoY, Yoyaku has in just a few years become a trusted trailblazer in the house and minimal sphere.
With his productions having garnered support from the likes of DJ Nobu, Four Tet and Roman Flügel over the past years, it should really come as no surprise that we’ve chosen Varhat to operate the big machinery for our very first birthday – our biggest event to date and one we don’t want you to miss.
