Over the last decade DEBONAIR has carved out a reputation as one of London’s most essential DJs.
Having dedicated herself to the city’s scene by serving as Programme Director of influential radio station NTS, melted minds at iconic spaces such as Tate Modern and London Fashion Week and has pushed boundaries in the club with her signature brew of EBM, italo-disco, raw techno, post-punk and vintage house.
Her NTS show, which began in 2011 is one of the longest running on the station, has developed a dedicated following and truly lays down DEBONAIR’s modus operandi. She rips up stuffy preconceptions of what a selector should be by blending the old with the new, guiding you into her musical mind and championing both marginalised artists and experiences. Get locked for life affirming music and the joy of blissful discovery.
And of course word has spread. Her DJ sets pulsate with an anarchic energy that’s forged from leftfield track selection and pure, unadulterated love of the rave. Step onto a DEBONAIR dancefloor and you’ll witness her turn curveballs and previously unheard gems into anthems no matter where she goes: from Panorama Bar to Cakeshop Seoul, to the closing party of Unsound, Europe’s most influential underground music festival.
Recent tours have taken her to South East Asia and North America, where she played for Honey Soundsystem's notorious Folsom Street afterparty in San Francisco, Hot Mass in Pittsburgh, Marble Bar in Detroit and Nowadays in New York.
If you’re yet to witness the craft, see how she gets down in one of her Boiler Room sessions, or her notorious Mixmag Lab set, which ended in taps aff chaos. There’s also her timeless mix for Resident Advisor, which brings her meticulous radio programming and dynamic club DJing together, and her recent contribution to Dekmantel’s flagship mix series.
DEBONAIR has created a niche on a full DIY tip since arriving in London at the turn of the tens. She’s made it her mission to unearth outsider bangers and turn dancefloors inside out – and that’s not going to stop anytime soon.
